1. Who are you and how you got the idea to develop a gym fitness for children in Kuwait?
My name is Haneen Almousa and I am a mother of two amazing girls Mariam 15 and Amal 13. When my girls were very young I had a difficulty in finding a quality gym for kids, a matter which encouraged me to search the world and bring the best to Kuwait where my kids and the kids living in my country can benefit from. That’s when I found My Gym Children’s Fitness Center, a worldwide leader in children’s fitness. I loved the idea of how they keep children healthy by making fitness fun!
My Gym offers unique classes for children aged 6 weeks to 13 years designed to enhance strength and coordination as well as build social skills, confidence and self-esteem.
 
2. Are you dealing with expats children as well or only locals?
 
At My Gym Kuwait we deal with both local and expat children. All our My Gym classes are conducted in English.

3. Is obesity among children a big issue in your country?
 
Unfortunately, obesity amongst children in Kuwait is a big issue. Many children spend hours on cell phones, video games and television instead of engaging in physical play.
My Gym is dedicated to put an end to child obesity by encouraging children to go to the gym at a very young age. Our facilities, programs and services empower youngsters by helping them acquire the skills, confidence and positive self-image needed to become healthy young adults.
 We are committed to nurturing children, treating them with understanding and positive reinforcement, maintaining a supportive and noncompetitive atmosphere, and making learning fun and exciting.

4. Are Kuwaiti women aware of the healthy life style exercise and nutrition matters?
 
Kuwaiti women, especially our young mothers are becoming more and more aware of the importance of exercise in a child’s life and the overall importance of leading a healthy lifestyle through exercise and proper nutrition.

5. What are your own tips in order to keep a good health?
 
I am a strong believer of the importance of sleep. If you get a good night sleep, you wake up fully energized and ready to conquer the world! The days I sleep well in I wake up in a good mood and I am very productive and also in the mood to exercise. The same goes for our children when they sleep well at night they do better at school and still have the energy to do any after school activities. They are more happy!
I also make sure that my girls and I drink lots of water during the day and we eat healthy homemade meals.
Finally, take a deep breath and relax when facing any issue that causes anxiety. That’s what I always tell my girls when they come back from school feeling overwhelmed from the amount of homework or tests they have. Anxiety harms your health and doesn’t solve any situation. Take matters one step at a time and surround yourself with positive people!
